Sloan and The First Gentlemen announces debut single Faithless off their upcoming album Axiom!
Sloan and The First Gentlemen’s debut single, Faithless is set at the beginning of the overarching story that the band’s upcoming album Axiom tells. In this energetic call back to grunge’s heyday, the hero of the story begins to question his faith in a world that accepts it without question. This all occurs while he performs his music to a crowd that is largely disinterested with his existence. Faithless is a grooving punchy track that is a great entrance point into Sloan and The First Gentlemen’s style, out June 25th be sure to check it out! Faithless, and the upcoming album Axiom are a result of a team of budding remote music producers who have overcome varying disabilities to compile a 12 track story based on the hero’s journey. As well as being the proof of concept for brand new audio production company Songplistic, which lead to the inception of this band. Faithless will feature a cover of My Favourite Game by The Cardigans as a B-side and be supported by a lyric and music video filmed in Kelvingrove park in Glasgow. There will also be live shows if current pandemic restrictions allow. This is the first step on the Axiom album release cycle! Faithless was the catalyst for this whole project, being the first song written for it. The album itself began as a final masters project at the University of the West of Scotland. The band was formed as the album progressed with it consisting of Ross Sloan: Vocalist and Guitarist who also mixed and produced the album as well as programming the drums, Cameron ‘Smithy’ Smith: Bassist who played a large part in the production process and Sam King: Drummer who joined the band after the recording process of the album. Our influences vary across the scope of rock and metal but some of the major artists that inspire us are: Alter Bridge, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Rush and more!
“Faithless, while fitting into the story of Axiom, is also an allegory for the way the creative industries have been ignored during the current pandemic. With many artists and businesses being left to deal with the aftermath of a situation they had no control in, the message of the track is one of questioning the world we live in as a result of that abandonment”- Ross Sloan
